sorry

i haven't posted in forever. oops

i've got about a week until we start preparation for the degree show, i haven't quite got my work finished yet. i need to spray some stencils, do some etchings and a bit of written stuff.

part of me wants it to be over and the other never wants to leave uni. its fun but bloody hard work. i think i'm more sad about the fact that i won't get to make art everyday.

I will post some photos of my final show on here after june 11th, which is the preview night. i will post photos of the pieces i'll be showing before the show opens.

its been too long

since my last post i've handed in my dissertation, had assessment, had feedback from that assessment, been to our fundraising auction for our degree show and had the most awful crit ever.

i wont get my dissertation mark until around easter, my assessment didn't go so badly. i got a 2:2, which i expected, the auction raised a lot of money for the show and the crit, yesterday, nearly made me cry. i couldn't manage to explain my work and ideas. i felt like i was put on the spot and my mind went blank. everything i said the tutors put down as being pointless. i have no idea how i managed to stay calm considering there were 2 other people after me. hopefully next week will go better and my tutors can be some help for a change.

today i haven't really done much. lazed around the house, tidied up a bit, had a good think about my work and what i can do and where it can go. i'm trying to think about what i might be showing in my degree show so i can go pick out a space. i'm thinking probably some big prints in either lino or screen printing. i need some more practice with screen printing first.

right now i'm in the middle of making some oreo cupcakes. i might post of photos of them later if they come out ok.

i really should post more often

well, back to uni tomorrow. gotta hand-in my dissertation.

i keep thinking i've missed really important things out. its too late to do anything about it though i've already printed it off and had it bound so its done weather i like it or not.

i dunno what else i can post about.

i got a lomo fisheye 2 camera for xmas as well as new ipod headphones, a lot of starbucks coffee, some dvds and a couple of wii games.

Enchanted Parks 09

Since I last updated I volunteered to help with Enchanted Parks

If you aren't familiar with it, its an art event that happens every year in Saltwell park in Gateshead. It consists of various installations/performances throughout the park, in the dark. The theme this year was the 12 days of Christmas.

It was hard work, cold but thankfully didn't rain or snow the entire time I was there.

I worked with some 2nd year art students who are at Northumbria (like me) so I knew them and get on with them. I have no idea how they found the time to do the commission and their own work. I would never have been able to find the time.

Anyway, the piece I helped with was 5 Gold Rings. (there's photos on the journal website which is linked above, and there was photos of it in the paper too.)

I should update on here more often. I had a tutorial with Jorn Ebner today. It definitely helped give me more ideas and he had a lot of positive things to say. It was nice to hear someone say that I make a lot of work rather than hearing tutors say I need to do more.

and this is my studio right now. this is only half of the space. i need to take more photos of it. and after a lot of trouble getting paper I finally managed to get my lino print of Hunter S. Thompson done. (that's just the first layer of ink, there's black to go on top of the grey)
